Wacom is the undisputed leader when it comes to graphics tablets and digitizers for any application. But it looks like they are not the ones to rest on their laurels. Acer chairman J.T. Wang recently commented that Apple’s new fangled tablet device will not be able to stick to its 100% market share that it currently enjoys. HP’s [NYSE:HPQ] Zeen has been in the rumor mills for quite some time now. It is expected to be a companion device to a printer from HP and will only be sold together. Printing being by far the largest business for HP, it is no surprise that they are dedicating an entire tablet to it. As Apple [NASDAQ:APPL] launched the iPad, tales of netbook doomsday were adrift everywhere. But no one quit expected this tablet device to have much of an effect on the PC industry. In fact, most debates along those lines were terminated by proud PC industry supporters saying that the functionality difference was large enough still to not affect PC’s at all. But now, analyst Maynard Um from UBS is saying that the iPad is in fact exerting a detrimental effect on the PC industry and the companies are scurrying to recover.

Toshiba’s upcoming tablet has just been named by Italian tech blog Netbook Italia and according to them it is called Folio. Of all the paper and print related names, they had to go for that one. But at least now we have a one word name to call it by. So this Folio is the tablet device that everyone’s expecting to come out later this week at the IFA. The blogosphere’s favorite rumor mill — Digitimes — has put up a report saying that the Toshiba Tablet will be coming out in the September-October window. They have also mentioned that it will be an Android-based tablet. Even though they (Digitimes) do not have the best of accuracy ratings when it comes to such claims, they have often proved to be right or nearly so. Besides, this time there are other signs showing that this might indeed be true.
