The IFA is coming up next month and ViewSonic, not willing to take the risk of being overshadowed by some of the bigwigs that will be in attendance, have announced their line up for the tech show. Turns out that amongst the HD streamers and the all-in-ones that they will be showing off, there will also be two new tablet devices.
As the market for tablets continues to heat up with continued launches by all the computer makers, ViewSonic has become the latest to announce a brand new pair of tablets. Whilst the scale is currently tipping to Android’s favor when it comes to the platform of choice for tablets, the company is playing it safe by using two different platforms for the two different models.
ViewSonic’s two tablets will be based on Android and the other will dual boot Android and Windows 7. Hence, it seems like the last one is where the company is looking to play it safe and perhaps appeal to the business market.
One of the tablets is a 7 inch model and is called the ViewPad 7. It is based on Android and has 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and twin cameras facing front and back. Everything is onboard here and seems like the standard configuration for the model. Connectivity is via USB. Memory is expandable via a microSD card slot.
The other model has no details so far. It is supposed to be a 10 inch model. It has no name so far but if ViewSonic continues the naming pattern it should be called the ViewPad 10. This is the one that offers Android in dual booth with a Microsoft option, which we are guessing is Windows 7. ViewSonic might be thinking that it is a potent combination but it is certain to confuse users unless properly executed. Such options usually appeal only to tech heads (like us) and not to the general consumer. More details to be had next month it seems.
